Who Can Apply For a Marriage Certificate?

Marriage Certificates may be released to:

Either party of the marriage
A person who has written authorization from a person described above
When a party to the marriage is deceased (proof of death is required):
a. the children or parent of the deceased party;
b. the executor, trustee or administrator of the estate
c. a person with written authorization from one of the above

Who Can Apply For a Death Certificate?

Death Certificates may be released to:

A spouse, child, parent or sibling of the deceased
A person who has written authorization from a person described above

Service Options:

Regular Service

Choose this option to receive your certificate within the province's regular processing time frame (approximately 2 or 3 weeks).
Once we have received your completed application, we will process it for you using the standard government procedure.
In all cases, your certificate will be mailed to you as soon as the province has completed processing.

Rush Service

Expedited service is available for an additional fee.
Certificate processing will be completed within 2-3 business days.
