Background of Small Claims Court
The Small Claims Court deals with civil disputes of a monetary value of up to $10,000. We understand that Small Claims Court has a specific form of rules and procedures that are overwhelming and time consuming. We work with our clients to develop solutions at a reasonable rate.
The Small Claims Court can handle any action for the payment of money or for the recovery of personal property where the amount claimed does not exceed $10,000. This includes the value of all goods that the plaintiff is asking for in total, no matter how many defendants there are.
The following are claims that can be filed in the Small Claims Court:
Claims for money owed under an agreement:
- Unpaid accounts for goods or services sold and delivered
- Unpaid loans
- Unpaid rent
Pre Judgement/Post Judgement
There are several charges and costs attached to filing a claim and/or a statement of defence, These Court filing fees are required by the province of Ontario and are charged in addition to the convenient service fees that we offer.
When dealing with a legal matter before it has gone to trial (Pre judgment), our costs vary depending on the matter. The Pre judgment process refers to the process and procedures required before making a legal claim. Below is an example of how our fee structure works:

How We Work
We understand that in a Small Claims Court matter, you do not have to have a representative (e.g. a lawyer or paralegal). We understand that individuals can represent themselves in a Small Claims Court matter. We also understand that the practice and process can be tedious and confusing. Therefore, our service strives to ease all anxiety and assist in making the legal matter heard in an efficient and effective way. To help you achieve your desired legal results.
We will complete all the required legal documentation; required both before and after trial and if necessary, we will provide you with the proper legal representation during the mediation and trial processes.
Consultations
Your first contact with us will be during our consultation with you, at this point you will explain your matter to our experienced team. During the consultation, we will provide you with advice on the different legal options that can be taken, and we will offer you our services. Once you have decided on our services, we will ask you to fill out a retainer and to provide us with proper identification.
Our Service
If a claim is or is to be filed with the Court, we will assist you with completing all the documentation required regarding your matter. We will prepare you with all the information that is required in preparation for Court.
All your documents will be filled, and we will provide you with a brief report with suggestions that may assist you during mediation and/or trial.
If you do not feel confident in representing yourself, we have licensed paralegals that can represent you during mediation and/or trial. The cost of representation depends on the legal matter and the amount of preparation that is required for the case.
Please keep in mind that our legal services are only provided for Ontario residences. Unfortunately, we are unable to provide legal services outside of Ontario at this time.
