Northern Ireland Certificates
For Northern Ireland, Certificates Express can help you obtain a full or abbreviated (short) certificate from the General Register Office of Northern Ireland. While the long certificate includes more information than a short certificate, such as the name of the parents in a birth certificate, the short and full certificates have the same price. The full certificate is usually required in legal matters.
We will be able to obtain your certificate if you provide full names for the person involved, as well as exact date and place for this event (exact date of birth, marriage, death).
Northern Ireland certificates are issued within:
- 7 working days for short and full Standard service certificates
- Issued by 1st class mail the same day if received before 14:30 or Processed next day if received after 14:30 for short and full Priority service certificates

Additional charges may apply for every 5 years of searching undertaken by GRO of Northern Ireland staff. Processing time does not include delivery.
All of the information required for applying for this certificate will be obtained from you in our application package, which you can download after purchasing one of the services above. This information includes:
- Full name of person whose birth certificate is required
- Date and place of the event
- Names of parents (including mother's maiden name)
- Mother's residence at time of birth
